OH Keeping your jets nice and clean

Hey guys, I have an FC and it's overall in good condition but sometimes it feels like the idle isn't as smooth as it should be, does anyone have any experience with using sea foam or using fuel additives such as startron in your gasoline, since the overall quality of gasoline has decreased over the years. Also, is it really true that red lining your car cleans the carbon off of the rotor? In my opinion I feel like redlining a car is abusive. One thing I do want to add is I just bought the car a few weeks ago and not having any knowledge about what octane rating to use I put in high test a few times. I've been using regular which is 87 here in OH the last couple times, but there might be a little 93 left in the tank still. Would that have any impact on the idle? Thanks.

Redlining this Type of car is NORMAL,so get out and give it the Gears!
You don't necessarily have to Keep it at MAX ..but it does LIKE to rev higher than a Boinger engine...5-6 k when shifting is enough.
Seafoam is Ok to use,but if you are trying to clean the carb internally because it is dirty and acting up like flooding, etc,, then it is not a "cure all",do not waste your money..
N/A engines are actually happy with 85 octane but since that is not available any more the closest is Regular 87 octane.
Anything Higher on an NA is a pure waste of money.

OH

Ok. It's not flooding or doing anything severe. Since I put 93 in it would that have anything with the idle being uneven since the higher octane is harder to ignite? Before I actually discovered that the higher octane means something totally different than what I thought it did, which I found out from reading the info on this forum, I thought the higher the octane the hotter it would burn therefore cleaning out gunk but I guess I was wrong. Also, I thought the fc was EFI? So doesn't that mean it doesn't have a carburetor?

you said jets..that is on a Carb..
jets,injectors..same stuff..fuel stuff.
Yes 13bEFI is injected..SeaFoam won't clean injectors.Only a Pro can do that.
NO the 93 wouldn't effect your car..it will just hurt your wallet as you had to pay more for gas.

Thanks,
I think I'm gonna try the sea foam just to do it. And I might start to use a fuel additive like startron, bc I've heard good things about it since gasoline made today is **** and my fc isn't my daily so the fuel will sit in the jets longer than driving it everyday.

if this is your problem, then look elsewhere. as misterstyx69 said, Seafoam (which is one of the products I actually believe in) is not going to clean injector that are already gummed up and your gasoline is certainly not the issue.

1. when was your last tuneup?

2. if you feel your injectors are truly in need of help, then send them out to be cleaned and flowed.

3. you can also look at simple things like cleaning the AFM or fuel-related grounding points.

As far as tune up do you mean regular maintenance? Bc everything has been done according to schedule by ways of normal driving conditions based on the Mazda RX-7 owners manual.
