Aw snap.. First problem today. Out driving around and picked up a trailing coil and an oil cap. Yay.. more parts I needed off the list. Fired up the car and drove off. About a minute later I look in the mirror and see nothing but white smoke. I mean James Bond would have been proud of the smoke screen.
124k on the stock turbo. The seal finally took a dump.
Now I have to pull the turbo and get a seal and bearing kit for it. While it's out I might as well port the wastegate.

Turbo is out. Probably could have saved some time just yanking the motor out rather than pull **** out of the way.
Exhaust side. Can't find any oil in there. However I found some oil in the intercooler and compressor side. No in and out but it does have side to side play.
Hey look... A rotor!

Congratulations on the acquisition.
Sometimes you do not know how life will turn out. You put off fixing a simple thing for a few weeks. The weeks turn to months. You buy a new car. You buy a new car or seven, and always want to fix your old friend. Unfortunately, by this time your old friend needs more than just a new sensor or whatever was wrong with it. Your buddy sits for a few more years until finally you just have no more attachment to it. You would rather not see it removed from your life for free than put the effort into fixing it. Or, you just plain do not have the time, money or ability to fix it anymore. In any case, some one comes along and offers you a way out of the situation, so you take it. You are happy, the new owner is happy, and your old pal lives again. The point I am trying to make, is that everything is not all about money.
i don't get people sometimes...
why didn't he just sell it before letting it sit and rot for 10 years? could have gotten $5k+ for it back then, assuming the paint hadn't flaked off yet.
hell, a few hundred bucks and he could have gotten $3k for it in it's current state, with the rebuilt motor and all.
