just bought a 85 rx7 what do I need to do?
I just got an 85 rx7 with the 12a engine and it has been sitting for over a year. I got the car running the other day and had it going for about a half hour because the guy said the car would go a few miles then flood. But not knowing anything about rotaries I am wondering what all I should replace before getting this car on the road that will make this car more reliable and not damage the engine or anything. I plan to change the plugs since they are covered on gas and a oil change of course. The fuel filter and air filter are in good shape radiator fluid and brake fluid was empty (got to fix a brake line this weekend also), and If I have money left over I will just finish up the tuneup, but is there anything else I need to watch out for or do?

Learn everything you can about the rotary by spending many hours reading this forum since your typical mechanic may not be much help. Use the advance search button and you will find this question asked many times with some great answers.
The best advice you will read is never overheat your engine. By the time your temp gauge goes to HOT your engine needs an major overhaul! Keep a close check on your radiator, fan, thermostat, and the entire cooling system. Also, you should need a quart of oil about every 1000 miles since you have an oil metering pump requiring you to burn oil.
These seem like simple things that anyone would know but are critical for this engine. Have fun, it's a great car to drive.

Okay thanks, I did heat the engine a little bit the first time I got the car started but it wasn't very hot as soon as I realized it was starting to heat up on the gauge I shut it off poured antifreeze in it and started it back up and it was all fine.
