MI Just bought an 79 Rx7

Picked up a 79 rx7 for $450. Need some information on the car.
Needs a new paint job which i will be doing myself.

Apparently the guy said that about a year ago they took the car into a mechanic who was trained on mazdas and the mechanic said that the car needed a carb kit and it shouldnt be drivin without the carb kit, and that other than that the car was in great working order. The car was started last year and hasnt been run sense. Car rolls over. What do i need to do in order to get the rotary running. ( what do i need to check?) other than the carb kit.

needs an oil change what oil do you recommend?

Start by verifying that you have spark to all of the plugs. If so, then try dumping a couple of ounces of Seafoam down the carb and see if she'll start.

You can go to the 1st gen section, and look in the FAQ page for a "end of all no start threads".

Good luck. What are your plans for the car?

Also may depend on the gas that is in there. if its the same that's a year old, it may have gone bad on you. I had 2 1980's and both had so much sludge in the tank that they only ran to 1/4 of a tank.

plans are to repaint it. Still debating if i want to stick with the original color or do something more my own style. I cant wait to get it going and drive it. I will take some pictures and get them up here tomorrow as its already dark here. Too bad i have to get the transmission rebuilt in my 94 buick roadmaster before i can get started working on the rx7
