I'm at the track: P/S failure question!

Hey guys, I was doing some searching on the forums and was trying to figure out if it would be okay to run my car on the track with the P/S and A/C belt off the car safely. From what I've been reading it sounds like I could potentially be putting a lot of excess strain on my rack, but that also it seems like it should be fine for the day. I was planning on doing the next run still regardless, and just pushing the car maybe at 50% or so. I still want to learn the lines

TL;DR - P/S belt broke, can I still track without it safely without damaging it permanently?

I've known people who have run with just the belt off for long periods of times before putting it back on without any issues. I am talking months here.

as long as you still have fluid in the lines your fine, just remove some fluid from the reservoir so it doesn't over fill when you turn the wheel since your pump is not pushing fluid through the lines.

Thanks guys. I ended up deciding to run anyway, but ironically my alternator decided to give out as I was in pre-grid--so I sat there on pre-grid pointing people by, waited for people and cars to clear, and pushed the car out of the way with my tail tucked between my legs. I did manage to do a few laps the last session with no p/s and it was not too bad! Not quite as good as the manual rack on my old Miata R Package

Thanks again!

A depowered rack is even more fun due to the quicker steering ratio versus the r pack manual rack

Yeah while this is true keep in mind mine was de-powered and not properly looped/converted so it was a lot more difficult than the R Package :P It was still fun though! The feedback's nice. Too bad I've given up on the idea of having a real manual rack for the FD, ha

Nothing beats having P/S though. Especially the S4 P/S, man it's like sexual sex.
