Idles cold but not when it's hot ?

Idles cold but not when it's hot ?
I have an 88 GTU. When I start the engine it will idle alittle rough but will idle none the less. However if a take a short trip down the highway or run her alittle hard on a backroad it won't idle on it's own...???
