idle surging, fuel and oil questions

Hey guys, i have a 86 2nd gen. that I just got running. I believe the fuel pressure damper was the problem. It runs good, but when at a stop the car seems to be idleing low then high continously.

Anyway I was wondering what is the best gas and oil to put in this beast. Thanks alot

Doubtful. The FPD = fuel pulsation dampener. Not fuel pressure damper. If I read your comment correctly, it seems like you are saying that your idle is fluctuating or surging or hunting up and down? Is that right?

As for best gas - use a quality gas.

As for oil - it depends how you use your car but you might want to start by reading the FAQ for past discussion on the topic. I'll let other 2nd guys chime in on that if they want.

Hunting idle is usually the TPS or a vacuum leak. TPS adjustment: http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...i=58&co=1&vi=1.

Gas: top tier 87 octane.

Oil: conventional or high-end synthetic. 10W-30 or 10W-40 cover most regions' temperature ranges well.
