Angry HELP!! my drive shaft/u joints

well i'll start from the beginning, i have an 86 Fc, well i was researching for the longest time why my car felt like a vibrator, it was really bad, especially on the freeway, anyways after much inspection and many suggestions from you guys i figured my problem out! the back u joint went out on my drive shaft, and i struggled to get it out and i even ordered the joints, well now that i got the shaft out i can't seem to get those damn ujoints out! and now im thinking i might have to get the whole damn shaft, can anyone enlighten me? maybe give me some good news? im telling you if i didn't have bad luck, i wouldn't have any luck at all!

The stock driveshaft does not have "replaceable" u-joints. They would have to be pressed out. You could find a shop set up to do this, or pick up another driveshaft.

The ujoints are not replaceable. I think it is just best to go to the junkyard and pick up a driveshaft with good ujoints. Preferably from an 88 or up as they were skinnier.

Another option is to "retrofit" the driveshaft with replaceable ujoints. Driveshaft shops can do this. That way you won't have to worry about the ujoints going out again.

^ Your welcome, you know a third of my knowledge comes from owning 5 FCs in my life. At one point I ran into the same problem you did. Took 2 junkyard trips to find the skinnier drive shaft after finding out I couldn't replace the ujoints.

So, are drive shafts hard to come by?
Mine makes a "tink tink" noise once in a while.
Where would I start to try to find one, or does the repair place do that?
I have an '88 vert.
Thanks in advance.

No, they're not hard to come by. You can buy brand new ones, or go to the classified section to find a used one.
