Idle problems

My 87 GXL won't idle when it's cold it will just stall out, once it's worm it idles ok.
But once it is worm if I try to hold the idle below 2000rpm it surges up and down between 2 and 1000 rmp? it won't surge at higher rmp.

Fix any vacuum leaks and adjust the TPS.

Please stop posting nonsense like this. And the rotary engine is isn't 2-cycle as you said in yet another silly post.

rx-7pride - I try and take it easy on the noobs however the only person opening their mouth around here and not knowing what they are talking about is you.

While the amount of time someone is a member of forum isn't always indicative of knowledge, SgtBlue is a rather knowledgeable member who in this instance certainly knows more than you...and has the cars to back it up.

So let's look at specific areas where you are wrong...

Cold Start Assist: It is 3k, not 2k as you stated.
RX7 Idle:
FD 750-800 with AC on 1000
FC: Idle once again is around 750
FB: I'm guessing...you got it...750.

Rotary engines run great in cold weather...BECAUSE THE AIR IS COOLER! Amazing, right? People have used rotary engines in everything from snowmobiles to airplanes You know it's cold when it snows...right? OMG how could a rotary snowmobile run in teh snow? Mind = Blown!

Seriously...your ego and poor attitude are making you look like a dick and the "information" you are spouting off is wrong and may mislead other new members who don't know that you know nothing.

I'm sure you'll have some witty response as you sound like you are about 18 (and your spelling and grammar resemble that of a 6th grade Middle School Dropout). Instead of being mad, you might actually want to spend time reading about the cars you claim to know about so your next contribution has a better chance of being correct...and work on your attitude as well...currently it isn't going to get you far around these parts.

Funny, all my rotarys have always started up cleanly and ran well in -40C weather. I drove a carbureted 12A for 2 years as a winter beater. Pull choke, crank, release choke. Purred like a kitten.

Perhaps it is your rotarys that don't run well in the cold? And perhaps it is somewhat related to the kind of advice you give?

Now I may be being a bit hard on you, but this is the new user technical forum and to spout obvious information will just confuse the new users. And lead them to take improper action, spend money, or generally be misinformed. This helps no one. In this forum, you must be careful what you say and you must know what you're talking about to help.
