Question I need some input please.

Ok, This may be a newbie question.

I currently have a n/a 88 vert. Has a straight exhaust system(no cats) with the stock exhaust manifold on it. My ports currently don't work. So I wired one open, and left one the way it is. I know cheap fix, but I can't afford much. I don't really have any other performance mods on it other than ss oil cooler lines. For some reason its not showing oil pressure, it won't go past 15 psi, and sometimes doesn't even register. If you need any more info you may have to ask me a specific question about her.

Ok the issue:
I have been noticing, that sometimes the car is a bit peppier than normal. When I take off it doesn't bog down then start to go. I accelerate hell of a lot faster. Other times, the norm I suppose), She acts like the slowest car out there. When I take off, it will bog down a lil bit, then start to accelerate, I notice it doesn't accerate as fast when it has no pep. Also when I am at a stop light at idle. I notice that when its peppy, it will be 500 rpms hire than the normal idle. most of the time, I notice that when I have it in nuteral(can't spell at the moment) it will be at the 1000 rpm idle I set her at. But when I put her in gear clutch down, she idles at 500-700 rpm. I think she does it when she is in pep mode too(instead of the 1500 rpm, she slows to 1000 rpm when in gear). I dunno if that contributes to the performance issue, but I thought it might help you guys.

I have to many ideas of what could be wrong with her. I am asking for knowledgable advice. thank you

Why would you wire one and not the other? Do both, or none.

For your oil pressure problem, try a different sender. They are starting to fail due to age. Or just try cleaning the connection.
