Need help with borded rx-7 1985
i just bought a boarded rx-7. the man i bought it from said that is was borded from a 1.2 to a 1.9 but with that came many problems. and i will list all the problems because i tried searching for them and not one addressed my problem specificly.
1. when i start the rx-7 it the rpms jump up to a very high rpm. and the only way to drop them is to put the choke on.
2. my rpm gauge does not work so i dont know what gauge it jumps to. but my speedom, eter gauge does work.
3. the man said i need a holley 650 installed becasue the car is not tunned at all. he said i could run it with the original carbarator but it needs to be tunned so how do you tune a carbarator.
4. my gas pedal when pushed to the floor gets jammed and you have to open the hood and push the throttle release back and then it goes back to normal.
that is a few. i drove the car home from the guy yesterday and the only way that i was able to drive it was by using the choke the whole time. Please help this car has potential but it is my first rotary engine so its a whole new challenge.

Having to hold the choke out in order to drive the car may be an indication of a blockage in the carb. You can learn all about the stock carbs, and about a modified version, by reading up over at Sterling's site. Sterling is our resident carb expert, and has years of experience in rebuilding and also modifying them for racing. An excellent source for information.
