How to tell 8-bit from 16-bit FD?

Is there a way to immediately/easily identify a 16-bit car vs. an 8-bit car?
I just put down a deposit on a 1999 FD (RB) which is a series/version 5 FD with 265hp (not the 280hp RS/RZ/SR) and am trying to read up on as much as I can!
Thanks in advance!

(and yes, I used the search function... not the best algorithm or sorting!)

1992-1995 is 8 bit. 1996+ is 16 bit, your 1999 is definitely a 16 bit. The apexi power fc, for example, has versions for 1992-1995, 1996-1998 and 1999-2002.
