tell me, just tell me!jk

Just to start off, I have searched and found nothing. I got a call today from my dad asking about the exhaust on his rotary. He is in the proccess of rebuilding a S4 n/a motor and i have a question for you guys. He told me that on one of the irons that in the exhaust is a steel peice, but on another there is none. He tells me in 87, they didnt have steel in the exhaust but the 86 did. is it possible to remove the steel within the 86 iron and have it = to the other? Input is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

If you are talking about the sleeve in the rotor housing; they all should have the steel insert.
N/A has a "bridge/diffuser" in it, turbo does not.

sounds like he has a turbo exhaust sleeve or its been ground out. it probably would be a good idea if they were the same but i doubt it would hurt anything. stop bumping your threads

just remove the other one (grind it out, port the exhaust, whatever) and make them the same...
