I'm new to rotaries and I'm torn between getting a turbo or NA FC. I don't care a whole lot about making a ton of power but I also kinda want some oomph when I give it some gas. I know that NAs come with around 145ish stock but how much could you push that with performance parts and such? The other thing reason I've been considering an NA more is that they are cheaper and more of them are for sale in my area. Do any people with a turbo or an NA have any advice?

you should probably start with the N/A because it's simple, and while they may not necessarily be quick, they are fast ... at least fast enough. you can figure out if it's fast enough for you. upgrades amount to exhaust and suspension/brakes, but can be pretty significant if you're not looking for excess.

short answer is 220hp at the crank with all the bolt ons. 300hp tops with full race build and would not very streetable

 

Nice thread, there is a lot of info online, lots if bickering too. The best thread I have read mentioned it isn't the horsepower to be concerned with at first. How many trade-offs do you need to accept to get there? Is the question. After years of work the car had many trade-offs he wouldn' have choosed now. Super loud exhaust, high rpm launch with very lightweight fly wheel, emissions delete and air conditioning to name a few.

When I bought my second rx7 is was very noticable how much better 0-60 mph was than an average late 80's Honda. The answer, depends on what you are accustomed too. I have a 2006 Acura TL and is not a slouch 0-60 mph, at least for me. I am concerened too about the feeling of power once I drive my GXL again after 10 years, could be underwhealming.

The rx7 for me isn't a 0-60mph car for me anyways. Many V6's are probably faster straight line. Where this GXL was a joy to drive was on the winding back roads. I never drove anything like it, partially because of the dtts bushings no doubt. With them out, kinda bitting my nails now...
