na/turbo question

Someone on the drifting.com forum said that the NA chassis was not made for turbos, would you agree with this? I want to get some decent power of of my 88 Na but if turboing her (which i'd like to) is gonna hurt her more then help her then you know i dont wanna, any suggestions for more power while keeping her NA? I was thinking K&N FIPK but i dont know yet.

the NA chassis can support turbo just fine. it's the drivetrain that might not hold up too well to the increased horsepower. as far as staying NA goes, intake and full exhaust with something to tune the fuel (like an S-AFC or standalone) is about as far as the power upgrades go without taking apart the engine. you can also remove options like AC or PS to reduce power loss from those components. doing the Throttle Body Mod could yield an additional HP or 2 as well.
