ON How to diagnose faulty fuel gauge on FD?

Hello there,

I bought a 1992 Efini RX7 as a project car and the person I bought it off told me that the fuel gauge doesn't really work but he couldn't really explain all that well what the problem was.

It reads about half full but the person said its actually empty, so I really don't know. I am in the process of pulling the engine but is there any way for me to figure out if the gauge is working or not, or how much fuel is in the tank?

Thanks for any help,
Joe.

Almost certainly, it will be the fuel level sender.

If you check the FSM, you can find out the resistance of the sender and check it with an ohmmeter. You can remove it from the tank and bench test it.

Okay I'll check that today and see what I find, thanks a lot!
