Hi guys, I hope you can give me some direction. I have a 1985 RX7 with the 12A engine set-up. It's low milage and is in very good condition.

It starts and usually runs fine but has developed a running problem that shows up at highway speeds. It runs fine to a point then starts making a 'hollow' sound and will not increase rpms and the car will gradually loose speed until I downshift. It seems like it reaches a point where some engine control kicks in and is not functioning correctly. The problem occurs at different rpms depending on which gear the car is in (for example, at about 6000 rpm in 2nd and 3500 rpm in 5th). It will have the problem just reving it in the drive. I'm new to rotories... give me an idea where to start troubleshooting.

1. Check timing
2. Replace fuel filter (even if it looks ok)
3. come back and update this thread after those 2 things have been done

Edit: Could also be a carb related issue. I previously had this issue but check that stuff first and we can go from there.
