high rpm/rev
high rpm/rev
Just a simple question, as I'm new to the whole rotary engine thing. I've noticed that my rx7 seems to really prefer to rev high (4000-4500rpms or so, though it pulls more without complaint). Is this common on rotary engines, or does this signal a potental issue with the engine? Just wanted to know, because like I said I'm new to rotary engines.
So this is the GSL-SE in your profile? It's a 2-rotor NA; there won't be much torque under 3k RPM, and 3800 RPM is where the auxiliary ports open to increase top-end power.
The 1st gen GSL-SE uses nearly the same engine as what's in '86-'88 2nd gen NAs (S4). So, no, I wasn't talking about a carbed 12a.
You can look through the 2nd gen dyno section for S4 NA dynos, and read the various manuals: http://foxed.ca/foxed/index.php?page=rx7manual#firstgen. The '86 training manual has a lot of information about the differences between the GSL-SE engine and the "new" EFI 13b.
