Help please!
Alright guys, so I pulled the codes again and it came up with the afm, so I took out my intake, and looked at the sensor plug on it and it shows 5 wires that connect to it but in the same line of wires there was a bare wire astray not connected to anything, and I also looked at my afm and I could shake it and I could hear a spring in it or something real loose, any help?
There is a method for testing the AFM in the service manual and it's there for a reason. Also, make sure the connection is good so try reconnecting the plug while making sure none of the wires are pulled back in the plug then try checking for codes again. If the code for the AFM shows up again then use the FSM to test the AFM. And if you asked the bare wire what color it is what would be the reply?
Have you tested the AFM yet? You need to take the voltage reading on pin 2K at the ECU as the wire is Green/Orange. Take the reading w/the engine idling. It should be 2 to 3 volts w/the air temp at 68F. By the ECU there is ground point #10 as indicated in the FSM. There is a Black wire at this grounding point. This wire ties into a Green wire from the Emission harness. Try to find this Black wire and w/no key conduct a continuity test on this Black wire at one end and the Black wire you found by the AFM. If it rings out then you know the origin of the unconnected Black wire near the AFM. If it rings out then the unconnected Black wire near the AFM should be connected to the Green wire at the AFM.
I actually found the problem, the thermosensor on the engine, not the afm, I go to replace it and the nut is so old that the metal just started ripping when turned, the whole thing ripped off, so I use a dremel to hopefully grind the inside down until it breaks , that doesn't happen either, it pretty much melts and idk how to approach fixing this I'm really frustrated because I need this car to work reallyyy bad!
