help my '88 won't start
yes im a noob, i brand new to this stuff, just got my rx7 and have no idea how it works. the engine wont start even though the oil is fine, i have gas, and the battery is charged. the engine sound like the gas is running through the engine but it struggles to idle and wont start please help greatly apperciated. i have some pic no idea wat they are but maybe som of u can tell wat they are, how they work and other stuff.
i have no idea what that white container with the black top is for and wat it contains. nor do i kno wat the white container in the numbers on it.
i dont kno wat that dirty container with the silver lid is and i think it is empty.
there are the cables that are disconnected and have no idea if they need to be. So if u could please any help on anything why the car is starting or what are in the pictures above and what they do. It will be greatly apperciated.

First things first, unflood the engine( pull the green 40 fuse under the hood and crank it over 2 or 3 times) put the fuse back in and give it a crank. If that dosent work unflood it again then jump your car over, you might have to have some one give the jumping car a little gas at the same time that you try to start it, many times i have had to do that, even tho my battery had juice it just didnt have enough to get it started. if still no start do a compression test and get back to us with the results, and most likley those wires were not hooked up to anything in the first place so dont worry. Good luck and dont give up the answer is out there

you may want to test your injectors to see if they're getting power. you'll need to pull the connectors off the injectors, and put a test light to them. put the key in the accessories on position, the 2nd one, and use the test light to see if they're getting power.
are the spark plugs fouled? I just bought a car, and it would start and run, but extremely rich (haltech ems). then it wouldn't start anymore. pulled out the spark plugs, and they smelled like fuel and premix. tested them in my reliable daily driver, and they didn't start the car.
is the timing right? just get a timing light and check the timing to make sure it's firing correctly. or you can check the crank angle sensor to make sure it's correct.
are the spark plug wires on right? could be the reason that it does not idle or even start.
are the coils working? my haltech wasn't sparking the l2 coil so it wasn't starting or idling right.

I would follow the first reply to your problem. My RX-7 had the same issue....
I diconected that fuse and repeated the steps for about 30 seconds a crank, about 5 times.... then My car worked!!!

no start situation
I am a "noob" too, but I just got my FC running. My advise is do what I did-purchase the Haynes repair manual and follow the process..for a no start condition. Yes, try the fuse first-the EGI fuse. I always remember the 3 things you must have for an engine to run..Fuel, fire and compression. I ruled out the fuel&fire..by following the process in the manual. .soo-no compression!..I found the answer under 2nd generation FAQ's-simple! I injected 12 cc's of 20w50 motor oil into each lower spark plug chamber-replaced the plugs and it fired right up!..Blew white smoke out the exhaust for about 5 minutes..the neighbors freaked out..it cleared..and all is well with the "rocket"..Good Luck..Mark in Bishop..

EGI fuse
The EGI fuse is located in the main fuse box just in front of the left shock tower. Please read the manual and acquaint yourself with component locations. This is your first step..then proceed with the "process" I referred to...Mark

Sorry, My apologies..I thought you were in the U.S. Try checking with local garage owners in your area-they may know some RX7 owners..you could contact or place an ad in your local newspaper..Good luck to you..

Rx7's are a little touchier than most, but still require the same things - fuel, air, spark and compression. Easiest first, unflood it like everyone already said, make sure you have a clean air filter, you said it has fuel, at the least take out your spark plugs and clean them, as well as make sure the contacts to them up to your coil packs aren't overly coroded. You never know how well it was stored. Then, exactly what hotcobrafast said - put a very little bit of oil into the leading spark plug holes and try turning it over. If that doesn't work, bite the bullet and check your compression. Also, make sure your exhaust is solid. If the bolts are loose near the O2 sensor, or it goes bad the wrong way, it can keep telling your car to give it more fuel, less air. There's a bit of a start for you, hope you have some better luck getting started.
