headlight woes...again FD RX-7

so i was driving home one night and i went to put my headlights down after getting to a gas station and i noticed my right side headlight (LHD) only went down half way. finished getting gas and when i went to pop them back up it stayed still. found out the next morning that both bolts holding the assembly had came loose and decided to be one with the road. i've since replaced them and now for whatever reason the headlight doesn't pop up or down when i press the button or turn on the lights!

when manually turning the motor it decides it wants to stay either up or down and spins itself back into place... there seems to be a point where the motor seizes up while turning and gets super hot. the headlights themselves were rubbing on the bumper a little before but it was only minor as well.

what could be causing it? should i just replace the motor over winter?

Sounds like something is bound up. I’d pull the whole assembly and find out what’s going on. On a bench it might be easier to diagnose. You may now need a motor but that may not fix the issue. Apparently that minor rubbing (probably due to the loose bolts) wasn’t so minor.
