General question

I'm currently trying to hunt down a decent car I can start to autocross. I don't really care what make/model as long as it is solid. I ran across an ad for an `86 RX7 (NA) that looked decent from the pics. The owner is asking $1200 but says... "Car needs a new computer put in it. The system Mazda put in the car known as AWS (Accelerated Warm-up System) has started failing and flooding the motor out."

I've "googled" AWS briefly and understand what it's about but my question is what kind of money are we talking? Is it an ECU replacement kind of thing or is this guy talking out his $%$?

Thanks for any help.

The owner has no idea what they're talking about. AWS has nothing to do with a flooding engine. It's for emissions and to get the engine to idle easier when stone cold.

"Computer" could mean the ECU (which are cheap), or it could mean the CPU (which controls some things unrelated to the engine). Or it could just be the owner is guessing, and there's no reason to replace either.
