Fuel Gauge

Hey everybody, I have an 88 vert and my fuel gauge is wack. When i fill up the tank it will read full and after about 20 miles the needle drops as far as it can. I pulled up the sending unit and all that and the float seemed fine. I even cleaned up the electrical connections and im still having the same problem. Ive been creeping on the forums for a year now with all of my rotary related fiascos but this one i cant seem to figure out.

The FSM has a way of testing the gauge.
