Front hose for Power Steering Reservoir (1993)?

Hi guys,

The Power Steering Reservoir for my 1993 RX-7 has continuously been leaking fluid. When I first got the car the previous owner had over filled the reservoir and there was a lot gunk around the reservoir. After cleaning up the area, getting a new cap, and removing some fluid so it's not pass the max line I've notice that the fluid has slowly been going down over time even after I've filled it up a couple times.

After looking I think the culprit is this return hose going out the rear of the reservoir. There seems to be a crack at the connector area and there's signs of seepage.

However, there also a front hose that seems to have a seepage around it which I probably also want to replace though I'm not 100% if it's leaking there. Could be leftover residue but better to be safe.

My issue is I can't find the part for this front hose. It doesn't seem to show on this diagram of the Power Steering Pump.

I did find a part on Atkins Rotary (FD01-32-688), however, it says that it's only for a 1995 model. I have a 1993 model year though.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I’m not sure why they have that listed only for the ‘’95 but I bet it would work.

If if it were me I’d call Ray Crowe. Long time FD owner and supplier of OEM parts to forum members...he’ll know what you need and get it if it’s gettable.

Crowe.Ray@aol.com or call him at 703-785-5554

BTW...looks like the PO was fiddling with it too. Those worm-gear clamps aren’t OEM. You should have spring clamps like the other hose.

That's a pretty common problem, that hose harden over time and the OEM clamp can no long keep it seal. I addressed that leak 3 years ago when I have to drain the fluid for a V-mount install, got the hose from Ray and he was able to get me a PS pump rebuild kit from Mazda. I got the rebuild kit hoping it'll have the o-ring that goes onto the fitting, as I can see some seepage on the fitting as well. The kit didn't have the o-ring, instead it has an o-ring that goes onto the side of the pump where mine didn't have an o-ring originally. So I kept the o-ring on the fitting and added that side o-ring as well, upgraded the clamps to constant torque clamp, have been leak free so far.

This is the o-ring I was trying to get from the rebuild kit, but it didn't come with one.

Instead I found an o-ring that fits into this grove right below the mounting screw.

Constant torque clamps, I use them for radiator hose too, highly recommend them.

I forgot the part # for the hose, but the one from Atkins should work.
