Front cover gasket leak!!!!!

Ok I dont know why I get so many problems thrown my way I almost dont even care any more. I have an oil leak in between the front cover and front iron under the omp when the car is running. Its not like gushing out but it is enough to worry about.when I rebuilt the moter one of those front cover gaskits with the water pump gaskit attached was used and the gaskit sealer was permatex high tak.I dont know what would couse it to leak but its leaking coz thats just my luck. can I replace this gaskit with the engine in the car, I know I have to take precausions to keep from droping my front torington bearing like keeping the clutch pushed in should I be able to take off my water pump drop my oil pan and remove my front cover to replace the gaskit wile the engine is in the car,and if I do what is a sure way of puting it back on so it dosnt leak. or based on were the leak is will it stop leaking when the oil gets below where its leaking from.

Are you sure it's not the metering oil pump leaking? Front cover gasket rarely leak, especially in that area.

JB Weld won't fix it. The front cover will need to be removed. Maybe the gasket split.

why wount j b weld stop it from leaking if I put it over the area its leaking out of. I know the right way to fix it is to replays the gaskit but seeing as I dont have a garage to do major work to the car any more if I can get away with stoping the leak with j b weld for now that would be great, and if I do get a garage of my own to work on my cars in the future I think I mite just take this engine back out tear it down and build it better coz the guy that helped me build this engine did a bad job.

JB-Weld will never adhere properly in an area of seeping oil. It may fix it for a few days, or a week, or a month, but it will fail fairly soon after.

A front cover job isn't too bad...but it will take a weekend. The oil pan must be dropped and all the stuff from the front of the engine removed (including the radiator).
