GET A NEW MECHANIC!!!
I hardly let anyone touch my car besides me and when I have to I choose someone with ROTARY EXPERIENCE!!
Leaving only one precat is completely useless. The precats only do anything when the engine is cold, so once the car is warmed up, doesn't do much at all.
Moral of the story: find someone else to do your work.

My car is loud as **** and sets off alarms unintentionally. If you're looking to have this car on the street refrain from redic noise and the flamage.

Either pull all the cats and do a full exhaust upgrade, or none at all. There is no middle ground that would be advantageous.
If you are short on money, buy a stainless steel packed resonator at the local speed shop (won't be more then $100), a set of generic mufflers (avoid fart cannons, they are obnoxious and won't last) for another $100, and have a local exhaust shop fab up the system for probably another $100.
Don't pull your BAC, misadjust your TPS, remove your aux ports, run a straight pipe or follow any of the other stupid advice given in this thread.

hahaha nice
you could always just route fuel directly to your exhaust

what do you mean by useless? useless for takin fumes out? or useless it wont help make any flames? here its illegal to take them all out... so hes just gonna take out 2, wouldn't that free the exhaust up enough to pop a lil flame? either way, even if he dont take them out he still has to fix the exhaust... here there is no one who knows about rotarys, just one shop that charges $110 an hour, im poor and this is a pos, im not spending 110 an hour.... i've seen 3 rx-7s that actually run, and only 1 ran good, which he took it to the 110 shop, and paid like over $5000 for some regular **** i could have done.... i am a auto tech, but i never got to work on a 7, so i bought one to fix up and this is it..... i dont do exhaust work, or tire work either, so im just poppin questions out, i know nothin about exhaust, except cats get plugged up, and i send the car down the street to the exhaust shop, this guy is great at exhaust work... hes just never done an rx 7... soo tips would be great
Sorry to be unclear. Leaving in one precat won't do you any good from an emissions standpoint. Didn't know it was just exhaust work you were having done. I'm a big fan of doing all your own work when possible, but I too cannot do my own exhaust or tire work.
Soooo... yeah, I would listen to aaroncake. He tends to know what he's talking about

well i got the exhaust done today.... i love it.... the guy ended up junkin all the cats, they were all plugged up... in the process he didn't put any back on, so now its basically a straitpipe, with the original "dual" exhaust, w/o mufflers or cats... i tell ya its a hell of alot faster than it was. it still needs alot though. but another day is better for searchin that... btw its not as loud as i expected, i might put up a video/exhaust note if i get the time to do it.

just a pipe from the original exhaust manifold all the way to the back, basically all he did was take out the cats, there was no muffler on it in the beginning. it does have the y pipe in there still with "dual" exhaust. the cat section is now just one single pipe, which hooks to the y pipe then that runs out the back of the car.

well if i drive slow .... its not too loud inside, outside, its loud, i tried once to see if i would get pulled over, and let it rip getting onto the highway.... and cop just looked at me, and gave me a thumbs up and he was keeping up for a lil bit till i hit about 70 on the ramp(speed limit), lol... so its good enough for me, kansas has federal laws... not cali... but it is an illegal exhaust, they wont impound it... you just gotta pick it up or have it towed away..... and fix it then have it inspected for whatever the problem was,.. and like i said its not as loud as you may think... compared to others i have seen around, mine is like 200th place.... cops really dont care unless you are being an ******* about it and revving everywhere you go, or doing something else way illegal.... you do run into those mean cops though

I can't wait for you to get pulled over and your car gets impounded, I don't know how it is in Kansas, but that's how it can be in Cail.

i did notice, this car does make the alarms do a caution beep, never set them off all the way... and only happened twice, and i was right next to the car, like pulling out of a parking spot
