Flames on FC

Is it possible to flame on a naturally aspirated model of an FC?
I know that if you gut the cat, it will flame but can you flame with a downpipe, high flow cat and very high flowing catback system? ( like Apexi N1 or Apexi GT)

Hmm, I see. I guess I'll have to gut it out after emission test.

well you must have it gutted out cuz I searched and theres no way you can get a nice flame going with any kind of cat in there.

Anyways, is flaming bad for your car? I mean, if the car was sitting still and you flame it, then the bumper might get some burn marks won't it? What about when driving it? Is this bad for ur engine in any way?

I see.
I have another question although its not related to this.
In the FC, does it have an AST? If not, would getting an aftermarket AST be possible and would it give me any advantages?

no, yes, no
my understanding is the ast is on the fd to act as an air trap for bubbles in the coolant. in the fc the neck that the upper rad hose attaches to acts as an air trap, why thy did not leave that on the fd makes no sense to me. but there is a lot of stuff on the fd that is not as good as the fc.

first off, let me say that if you disable the air pump with a cat that needs the air... you will do nothing more then clog your cat and kill it...and then there will be no point but to gut it or replace it.....

as for gutting the cat, been there done that, gutting it does nothing for flames, ater its gutted it simply acts as a large area that the exhaust can reignite itself....for those of you who dont quite understand let me give an example....

when i gutted my cat when i would rev up sometimes i would hear a loud bang or pop, coming from underneath the car(where the backfire would occure)

because of this the cat acts more like a resonator then anything else

flames are caused by the simple fact that our engines are probably the dirtiest engines ever designed....they simply cant burn all the fuels so sometimes from the pressures in the exhaust it will burn after combustion

the reason its so hard to produce an afterburn on a stock n/a fc other then the cat's is for the simple fact that....ready for this?

Mazda designed the headers to burn the exhaust again right there....so the majority of the possible afterburn is done right in the headers.....so if you were to change them...the likey hood of afterburn is greatly increased....

so for example as sinned said my car has a full RB true dual exhaust system, so if i rev high enough i can pop flames....however, because i constanty monitor how my car is tuned throught the sensors so that im not running overly rich(im poor and cheap, waisting gas is not an option) because of this my flames are pretty small, and it doesnt happen to often

if you really want to spit...i suggest changing the headers, getting either a straight pipe, a highflow cat, or a resonator, and tune the tps so its running rich....you will definely spit

or if you really want to, you can run a fuel line and injector with a spark plug to near the end of the exhaust and wire it to work off of a switch in the cockpit. i knew a guy who did that and spit several feet of flames. His was a kit that he got off the internet, but i don't know where

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!! that is nothing but pure RICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you do that you will be ridiculed and laughed at by all people alike...well except honda owners.....

besides that there is no point because, if you listened to what i/other people say you would no that rotary engines spit naturally...

no need for the fuel in the exhaust or the sparkplug in the exhaust bull **** that honda people do

I'm not saying you should and i would probably ridicule you if you did, I was just saying it is out there. I wouldn't do it either.

One thing, I don't think you can call it rice, because domestic hot rod guys have been doing it for billions of years. and yes i know that some of them do it the natural way, but there are those who do what i described above, or something similar...............just thoucht of something, what would you call the domestic equivalent of a ricer anyway? like a cheeseburgerer or something?

Yea dont do it, you get weird looks by people that think your car is about to blow up, not to mention that just means you are running rich, put that fuel to better use and make more power

I have not seen "Flames"

I have a stock 91 n/a stock header, Cat at the Y,

I do hear a "POP" when I shift at 6,500 and up.
and I hear a little POOF, when i'm over 3000 and I let off the gas and cost, then hit the gas thats where I hear the POOF..

Like I said, no clue if the cat is gutted, is this the norm for 7's

still a new to 7's
