first major problem

yesterday im driving down the road and drive over an old rail road. i think i slow down enough and of course being a low car you feel a drop of the weight of the car. well this time it feels like the whole front end dropped and then the engine sounds different from normal. It sounds rough and sounds like a rotary is out of rotation...like a low thump instead of a hum. i notice this while trying to accelerate but no matter how much i press on the pedal the car feels like its dragging the back end and rpms barely run up until i shift into 2nd gear ( rpms at 4000+) was in 4th before( rpms at 2500 to 3000).

so i pull over and when the rpms drop to 2500 the engine shuts down completely. i start it back up and the rpms run up at start up like normal then run down to where engine just shuts off. so i drive it home in 2nd gear at 4000 rpm trying to watch for cops and stop lights lol ( going 40 45 ) in a 25 lol.

now today i start it up cold and the engine stays running...until it warms up then the rpms give out and engine shuts down ....im thinking fuel but i wanna try something so i start it up and in neutral keep it at high rpm ( 5500) and my garage fills with blue white smoke yay! so i shut it off. now im at a loss of where to start...a rebuild or check fuel system first.

What year RX-7? Could be as simple as a plug wire that popped off.

really sounds like either u lost ignition to a rotor or u lost compression on 2 faces. pull the leading plugs and spin it over. should have even bursts of air alternating front...rear....front....rear.

ok i went and unplugged the t1 and t2 wires ....saw the sparks ...got more spark from the t1 and every second or two there would be 1 spark from the t2 . more like front front front ......rear....front ......rear....front front front something like that.

here is the link to a video i put up ...mainly for the sound of the engine and what it does after cranking up cold and idling right.

the sound coming from the left side of the engine and also high rev sound and last the engine dies and i crank it back up without touching the accelerator. let me know what yall think...at least i know it sounds way different from what it was.

also nothing loose...no wires plugs nothing ...i took the plastic skid plate off just to check.

yeah it's definitely running on one rotor. i was talking bout pulling the leading plug out of the rotor housing and listening for the compression pulses.

rebuild is ur only option. there's nothing that i know of that u can do that will bring the compression on that rotor back up to where it will make power again.
