FD3S Smokey Cold Start

i recently bought an FD, morning starts the car tends to smoke a lot for a minute or so and then the smoke disappears, is this something I'm suppose to worry about? I've been told its probably just condensation, I'm just afraid one of the seals might be done but the car runs strong, doesn't seem like theres any problem after its warmed up. anytime its started it doesn't smoke at all.

i have read a couple other forum posts for this subject just couldn't find what i was looking for. Thanks.

My FD also does the white smoke on cold starts, the colder it is the worse it is. And ive also heard its no big deal as long as it goes away once its warmed up a little.

If the smoke only lasts a couple seconds it's probably just condensation. If it smokes a lot for close to a minute there is a good chance you have a bad coolant seal. Mine smoked a good bit for about 30 seconds after the car had sat for a day or two. When I got the engine apart, coolant poured out of the front housing. Hopefully you don't have a bad seal, but if it is you will have to do a rebuild.

White smoke is definitely caused by water but I'm not sure that a little after a hard pull is due to a bad coolant seal. These engines do burn a little oil as part of their design so what you could be seeing may just be oil not water. Really all I have to go by is what I experienced with my car. There would be a big cloud of white smoke when I would start it after the car had sat for a day or two. After that burned off I wouldn't really notice it again.
