Hi I've got a Mazda fd3s and it starts up fine but then cuts straight out after about 5 seconds. I can only here the fuel pump working after the car has cut out and not when the ignition is on or the car is running for that 5 seconds. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks

 

total guesses on my part, but ...

1. have you tested the pump output? make sure pressure is maintained.
2. have you checked the exhaust? make sure the cat is not clogged.
3. any loose connection to critical sensors?

i'm not a Gen III guy, but if you haven't looked into any of those ideas, maybe they can keep you occupied until someone with more FD-specific experience can chime in.
