FD RHD English Manual

Are there any copies of the FD service manual that are RHD? I tried looking around on the fourms but there are only Japanese copies, but since there were RHD FD's sold in places like the UK and AUS, does anybody have a copy of those service manuals?

If not, what are the differences between the RHD/LHD models overall then?

There are very few differences between them that would warrant an entirely different manual for a rhd version. 98% of the usdm manual is applicable to the jdm version. Where it gets different is when they switched to the 16bit ecu but even with that it's just a few electrical things.

Is there something specific you're looking for?

Im saving up for an FD in 1-2 years, so I thought I should get a manual to study it beforehand that is the closest to what i'll be getting (JDM import, im in a RHD country so no issues there)

Any major changes I should know between the 93 USDM vs late model FD's from Japan? Either way i'll try asking a Mazda dealership to see if I could purchase a copy (is it possible that you can even buy one? I have a copy downloaded, but paper copy is preferable)

I've got the whole collection of FD manuals, everything from the 10/92 release all the way to the Spirit R Supplements. Only missing the R4A-EL Automatic Transmission Maintenance Manual, but I imported the Eunos Cosmo R4A-EL/Q4A-EL Transmission Manual from Japan a few months ago. Just need to iron out the glitches in scanning it so everything lines up correctly. Scanning a bound book is always kind of weird.

Right now, I'm in the final stages of translating the Eunos Cosmo Workshop Manual into English so it might be a couple months before I can think about starting a new project. But if you have a specific question, feel free to ask. One thing I can confirm is that the Body Repair Manual/Body Shop Manual has the same information in both English and Japanese. Realistically, I doubt a Mazda dealership would be able to access what you're looking for as it is outside of their specific region. As I said above, I've imported books from Japan but it gets expensive FAST. Of the 4 rather lightweight ones that I got, it ended up being about $80 USD plus shipping for each one. Even with using Japan Post/USPS and doing so in a big envelope, each one still cost about $30 to ship. And then you have to deal with Customs, which can throw a BIG monkey wrench into the works too. Sucks, but it's the nature of the beast when dealing with Japanese Unobtanium.

As soon as you get into the thicker/heavier ones like the main FD Workshop Manual (over 1000 pages...), the pricetag goes absolutely bonkers and so does the shipping price.

Or, private message member "KYPREO " here on the forums, He is a moderator on that site.

From what I can tell, the only differences really are just electrical, so any major electrical differences between the early/late models?

Dont us USDM manual for hooking up leads to S7 and S8 models.

Much of the diagrams in the JDM manuals use katakana

This is the alphabet for foreign words used in Japanese (in this case, English).

Learn the 50 katakana characters and you will be golden.

( I am joking, sort of.)

I learnt Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji at school + I got Japanese friends too so im set for reading the wiring diagram

I'll just print out the USDM service manual and attempt to read the electrical diagrams then, thank you all!

Whenever someone says, "I know Japanese", I always laugh because trolling comes next. Here's 3 excerpts from the Eunos Cosmo Workshop Manual, which I'm finishing up the translation on.

Apparently, being stinky killed your headlights...

And transmission need booze to function. They do say alcohol is a social lubricant...

But at least you can't get it pregnant...

First two had mis-identified characters which were easily corrected to obtain results that made sense, but the last one was dead-on the first time. I checked it 3 times and it still came out as "Pulled Out Status, Fingered Status." when describing shifter disassembly.

Same rule applies for every new FD owner: Check yourself at the door.

Know one of the Greek guys on the local forum (and here) got the V5 (or 6?) electrical manual new via Jesse Streeter ages ago, and not cheap....can't remember if hardcopy.....I'm assuming you want a late car, god knows what they'll bring in a couple of years!

Mazda locally used to have manuals and supplements. They occasionally pop up 2nd hand, no chance from dealers now I'd expect, but only really covered to V3 as the 96+ cars weren't proper V4. Bookworks is probably the best bet if a rhd export manual will suffice if you want to trawl. https://bookworks.com.au/shop/mazda/
