FD Oil mystery
FD Oil mystery
So finally got my 93 FD single turbo running after sitting for 2+years.
1. engine oil changed
2. coolant flushed once and replaced
3. fuel drained
took the car out temps normal, had oil pressure but car felt gutless so I figured boost leak. Stopped at a gas station to check tire pressure and hoses, lines, etc. Noticed a possible boost leak from intercooler piping and a small oil leak coming out of the oil return line from turbo. Drove back to the house and temps, pressure still good. Checked oil after I shut the car off and the dipstick is completely empty. Driveway is clear and don't see and spray anywhere besides the small amount on the turbo which was identified earlier. It was getting dark so I closed everything up but just curious if anyone has dealt with this. Obviously I will fix the oil line issue and fill back up on oil but I literally see no spray anywhere in the engine bay. Like where did all this oil go??? Total trip was approx. 3 miles.

My guess is you were either burning it or misread the dipstick with really clean oil (bad light, need readers like me) and low to begin with. Check your tail pipe for evidence of the former. If you’re certain neither is the case I might put the car up in the air and REALLY check things for a leak that’s not hitting the ground for some reason.
