FD Interior Lights Not Working

New member here and not yet able to post elsewhere. I was only able to find one thread where someone was having this same issue, and that thread seemed to die without a resolution.

I have ave recently acquired an 93 R1 and none of the cabin lights are working. Keyhole, rear hatch dome, map, or ignition. All other electronics work fine.

I’ve checked the the map and rear dome bulbs, and the 10A cabin fuse with a multi-meter and all is well. The cabin fuse slot is also getting power.

Any thoughts?

...which makes it seem like a ground issue. Just not sure where to check next.

Have you by chance swapped out the entire light assembly for a known good one? I had an issue with the grounds in the switches as part of the assembly that was causing issues with mine coming on. Swapped in a known good one from my buddy's car and it worked just fine. I don't know if there's a way to check the circuit from that (there probably is, I just don't know) clip, but you might check current going to that connector as well.

I haven't but I will. I have another FD that has working lights. I'll swap the two and report back. Great idea. Thanks!

Well, well, well. I found the fix to this by accident.

The audio head unit (non-Bose) was also not working. When I pulled it to check why, suddenly, all of the internal lights, keyhole lights, ignition lights started working. Must have been a ground issue caused by the blown head.

Hope this helps anyone else possibly having this issue.

More info.

I can confirm that the glove box light is on and it's also part of the I-3 wiring diagram. However (if I'm reading it correctly) the glove box lamp is grounded through a different ground (#6 behind the glove box) and all of the other interior switches are grounded through ground point #7 which appears to be near both door hinges. Can someone with wiring expertise confirm?

Would love to get some help here from someone with wiring expertise. Surely someone has had this issue before.

I checked all of the ground points I could find via the wiring schematic, and all looks good. CPU1 and/or @ maybe?

Anyone?

Bump. Anyone have any ideas here? I did swap the dome light with the working dome light from my other FD, and it's not working in my R1, so it look like it's not the dome light. I also swapped the working CPU#2 from my other FD into the R1 and still no love.

For one brief moment, about 5 weeks ago, I did see all of the lights come on. Ignition, Dome, Keyhole. Since then, the only interior light that comes on is the glove box light.

Dash is fine.

FIXED!!! In case anyone else is having this issue....

The fuse socket was getting current and the fuse was fine. What was NOT happening is a good connection between the two. In double-checking the fuse, when I went to pull it out, and the lights flickered. Moving the fuse in and out about 10 times cleaned up the connection between the two and VOILA. FIXED!

This car sat for a few years and this was probably a product of just that.

On to the next gremlin...

Hello. I would like to note that this may not be the problem at all. A paper clip can only solve the symptoms, but not the cause of the problem. In this case, I recommend contacting the repair service. Although still the best advice would be the advice to keep a close eye on your electric bike. I also did not follow my bike in my youth. one day, when I was returning home from the coast of Florida, my flashlight turned off and I was almost hit by a car. Since then, I have not skimped on the components of the bike. I take it for a great price on the website: https://www.thegrommet.com/products/...ntern-set-of-2
