Fd got some lag isssus

Ok so I have a 93 FD and I had left it with my parents while I went on a delpoyment overs seas. Well when I arrived back home I found out they really didnt start it much at all, which didnt go over well. Now here comes the interesting part. Now when you get to about 3-4k rpm in 3rd gear(not always 3rd) not all the time but 10% of the time there is HUGE lag for about 1 sec and then the car about snaps your neck when it takes off. On top of that it seems to be running a lil on the hot side...this isnt my main consern. All fluids have been changed and checked.

On that note Im wondering if there is any media(books, webistes) or schools out there where I could further learning about rotary engines. Thx

Look up reliability mods in the search and perform all of them.

Vacuum is probably the main culprit (rats nest)......whatever you do DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR HOT! The last thing you need yo do is pop a coolant seal and need a major tear down.

Check your bypass valve it might be stuck open till you have enough boost then it will shut close and have that boost spike. If you have a BOV that vents the air into the atmosphere this will give you some lag, since the air coming in is metered but you lose some of it, the engine will be rich momentarily. A stand alone ECU should take care of that.

1) Do you have a boost gauge?

2) Did you put any fuel stabilizer in the tank before leaving?

3) Have you run through the old gasoline yet?

In the meantime I would stay out of real hard throttle until you burn through a tank or two.
