FD cruise acting weird at times

'92 JDM FD. I assume the cruise control is original, and lately I've gotten couple of slight problems with it. At times it didn't go on; the "CRUISE" light in dashboard went on, but the cruise itself didn't. Then yesterday I was driving with cruise on, when it suddenly just cut it off.

Speed has been stable in these situations and all, so what might trigger this kind of behaviour?

I don't have cruise on my R1 so I'm of no help. Have you checked the routing of the cable between the cruise unit under hood and the throttle body?

Are you running a stock steering wheel?

No I haven't. Although like 99% of the time it works without glitches, and as the cruise wont drop after bumps or so, I would think there shouldn't be anything wrong mechanically.

Yes.
