Have you checked the relevant fuses? Have you checked for spark and the presence of fuel?

Have you tried starting the car w/starter spray? One second of spray into the air intake duct should be enough. You can try starting the car w/the AFM disconnected.

When a car isn't running, first things I check for are air, fuel, or spark. From there track down the issue.

I have been having a similar issue on my s5 convertible. The car didn't die but after shutting it off it wouldn't start.
Have you tried using a jump wire on the yellow plug next to the air box to try to prime the fuel system?

Got it started :3

Unflooded the crap out of it, added ATF and new NGK spark plugs, cranked it a few times...nothing!!! Cursed the heavens, went to store for brew, tried it again, nothing. Pop cranked it once and bamb. 2 minutes of white clouds and she was purring like a charm.

Now he has "the magic touch" -___-

AZ

I had a similar experience, and jumping the battery while cranking was the magic ticket to get my car started, which hadn't started in six months. I've owned it for three days now and its ran fine.

Well i have a fully charged battery. replaced battery terminals, i have spark n the spark plugs are somewhat new, . my crank angle sensor (is not loose n its marks are lined up correctly, also checked resistance on crank angle sensor and its within spec), checked resistance on leading and trailing coils and they are in spec, and i checked the fuel pump by bridging the terminals on the yellow two pin connector (thats near the intake) and i can hear the fuel pump running but it doesnt shut off ( it should turn off when it reaches fuel pressure spec)..... i also did a compression test with a normal compression tester (took sharder valve off) but i have no compression on both rotors! at all?! (is it possible for a 6 apex seals to go out at once? kinda hard to believe, so im not sure if i did it wrong or something...... but thats how far i am... if any ones got some idea to solving this mystery please HELP!!!! thanks guys

If in doubt you could always remove a spark plug in addition to pulling either of the EGI fuses and turn the engine over and a solid puff of air coming out of the plug hole should occur three times over.

These kind of things happens if you don't let the engine warm up before shutting down engine.

I think that's exactly what happen to me once last Dec... the engine was flooded after a only 3 min short trip to gas station in zero degree F... took me 10+ min to be able to start it again....
