sup club, i bought a 87 non turbo rx7 which has been sitting for a while, the car started up, but had a terrible idle which bounces around from 600-1000. when it idles that low, the whole car shakes abnormally. Sometimes the car idles at 1200rpm, and the car does not shake at all. When the car idles high, and i hold the clutch in, and put the car in gear, the idle drops til around 700. The car also dies when i come to a complete stop. ie red light or stop sign. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

 

Vacuum leak or bad / out of adjustment TPS.

If the car sat around for a long time, the vacuum lines are probably in bad shape, so start there.

 

I had similar problems with my 88 NA. It too had been sitting awhile. Check your BAC valve and your air supply valve, but vacuum lines are definitely where I would start.
