FB with bad water seal.
Picked up another 85 GSL-SE.
143k on the clock, and the previous owner said it had a blown water seal.
I get it home, put a battery in it, and sure enough, big white clouds out of the exhaust.
I did the block seal trick.
It 'kind of' worked.
It runs a whole lot better!
Smokes less.
But it still smokes. I can see more blue in the smoke then before, but I think the oil was already there, I just couldn't see it before because of the massive amounts of water in the exhaust.
The motor runs STRONG! It has the RB header, cat replacement and muffler. So it sounds decent, and revs fast.
It actually idles well until it gets hot.
There is no mech fan on this, it has an electric pusher fan on it (car is setup for autoX).
I am tempted to try the alumaseal junk in it. I flushed it for 30 minutes or so with the top hose off (no thermostat in the housing). So it's pretty clean inside.
Should I spend a few more dollars, or am I just wasting my time right now with this one?
Car is FUN to drive. Been a few years since I had my last GSL-SE. And with 17" rims, low profile tires, nice brakes! etc. it would be nice to drive this one. Not sure I really want to do an engine rebuild right now though.
Advice?

For the coolant seal, read this thread:

For the oil smoke, try running a quart of Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer in place of one quart of oil. Stuff works great.
