Clutch Master and Slave
So... driving to class today to finish off (hopefully, it's still thursday) 2 very bad weeks in my life, I'm in traffic and sitting in neutral. The light turns green, cars start to move up, I hold the clutch down and put it in first. Let go a little bit and *bam* jump forward and a stall... awquarddd i've never stalled this car before!! since i got it!! so i'm like ok maybe i got off the clutch too fast i'm tired, it happens. turn it back on, clutch to floor, STILL on the floor, first gear, STALL!! wtf!! clutch all the way down and stall? foot off clutch, clutch stays down!! lol
either way I figured the master or slave was losing pressure and I had to do the pulling the clutch up trick in order to drive it (luckily i was down the street from - ) my mechanic's shop. left the car there.
Slave and Master cylinder are gonna be changed cuz he said it's better to do them in pairs. Now the reason i'm not so concerned is because when i bought the 7 from him he told me he'd cover any mechanical failures within 6 months.... this is 1.5 in... so he made it seem like he would cover it, and you bet ur *** i'm gonna make him cover it and stick to his word. he's honest i'm not worried about it, but just in case...
how much does a master cylinder and slave cylinder swap cost normally on a 7? I have no idea what maintenance costs on these cars for a job like that. i assume around 300 total?? maybe wrong?
any estimates would help from people who have had it done.

What year RX-7? 2nd gen stuff is about $40 for both cylinders, and an hour to install.
It is also possible the clutch fork popped off of the ball. That's a pain to fix since the transmission needs to come off.

its a 93'. 3rd gen. i don't think the fork popped off the ball because of the way it's acting. its just losing pressure, when you pump the clutch it holds pressure and lets u put it in gear etc... so its just losing pressure
There apparently were problems with the early 3rd gen shift forks. One club member had his break enroute to an autocross last year. A heavier-duty replacement fork is available and MAY be partially covered by Mazda.
Aww man dude, that happened to me back in February two days after I got my N/A Zenki FC!! That was so embarrasing! I got stuck at the front of a crosswalk by the 101 fwy in So Cal on my way back to work!
Don't worry dude, the worst parts over, new parts won't cost you over a hundred and there relatively simple to replace. You could do it in a whole day. IDK about what year your FC is but if it's an early gen, but you could:
1. disconnect the clutch hydraulic line from the master cylinder on the firewall using an open end wrench
2. unbolt the master clutch cylinder from up under you driverside dashboard, it's really tight up there, i used a palm ratchet, but afterwards remove it from the engine's firewall
3. unbolt the slave cylinder from the top of the clutch housing.
4. then you gotta refill the master cylinder with clutch hydraulic fluid or DOT 3 and bleed the system, just like with brakes.

OH, SNAP. On Mazdatrix, you'd be paying like $240 for the whole kit alone. I've never worked on 3rd gen's before, so I'm not sure how you would go about doing it if they're setup is different.
But yeah, unless you can work on it yourself and or with a friend, then yeah it's gonna cost a good dime for a mechanic to do it for you. Save your dough! How's it coming now?
