External door handles.

I'm currently in the process of getting this car fixed up for the safety inspection, which I need to register my car here on base. When I bought the car, the external door handles didn't and still don't work. I see no sign of a cable or rod connecting the handle and latch in the car or in the door. What do I need to do to go about hooking these back up. I'm getting tired of crawling through the hatch, looking like I'm stealing my own car, stepping over the sway bar and banging my head on the roof. Haha.

these door handles are made of pot cast metal and are very prone to breaking at the lever on rear of handle replace handles

The door handles seem to be intact. I see no cable or any sign of where they may have broken, though. Is it a cable or a rod that attaches to the door latch?

I assume like every other door a rod and plastic pivot link is used.

yes if you remove the door panel all will be clear to access the door handle rods but the have little clips on them to keep them from falling off remove the door handles and inspect the rear of it it will be broken you wont be able to see the break until you remove thehandles
