Engine - Transmission - Clutch ?

I have a 12A engine (in a kit car), it has the raised H's on the block(s).... I bought a 5 speed transmission from a 12A

I have to order a new clutch, pressure plate and bearing... Would this be a generic purchase...read somewhere about two different clutch sizes?

Would rather order the parts before pulling the engine/transmission, but not if there is a chance of having the wrong parts

(hows that for a newbie question?)

You need to match the flywheel and clutch stuff to the transmission.

All RX-7 12A 5 speeds use the same clutch/flywheel.

...so judging by that article, this would be an 84-85 with the vent?

That is a 2nd gen S4 transmission, 86-88. Most likely an '87. Bolts up fine to the 12A but you'll need to get the flywheel, clutch, slave, starter from the S4. And the mounts are different, as is tailshaft and transmission length.

...so that is the 8 3/4" clutch and the flywheel has to be changed to match? And that would be 2" longer then the first generation one that is in there?

You're stretching my memory at this point. The flywheel diameter between 12A and 13B NA is the same, and I'm fairly sure the clutch disc is the same diameter. However I don't think the flwheel is the same depth. Certainly the starter is in a different position which would indicate the flywheel changed.

Yes, it's something like 2" longer.
