Engine rotates but wont start.

I have an 86 gxl and it won't start, I turn the key and all it does is rotate and stammer a little as if it wants to start. I checked the fuel rails elliminating that its not getting fuel, I checked the plugs and wires and know its getting spark so what could be the reason it won't start? The battery is brand new and fully charged the starter was just installed a few months ago so its not that. Please help any ideas would be great because at this point I'm running out of ideas of what the problem can be.

I tried it but it still won't start. I took out the comp fuse and cranked it to burn off any gas that may be flooding it and still it won't start.

Removing the fuse prevents the engine from working so it won't burn off any gas in doing this. You might want to remove the lower plugs and w/the fuse removed crank the engine to expell the excess gas from the housings. You could also disable the fuel pump and spray one to two seconds of starter fluid into the intake and start the car up after plugging the pump back up.

the last thing you want is, lost compresion.
I had my rx8 with low compresion, rebuild time.
it was hard to start, but when it did, had a rough idle and lost power.
do you have engine light on?

No engine light. I'm going to try removing the plugs and disabling the fuel pump. If that don't work I will just have to go with the rebuild. And if I rebuild I'm going ***** to the wall. Thanks for all the tips guys.

Certainly sounds like your issue is compression or injectors to me. Might be worth checking your timing too though; if it's far enough off I'm sure it could prevent starting altogether and it's a super easy thing to fix and diagnose.
