Most of the turbo kits sold on eBay are cheap Chinese knockoffs. Stay away from them...I'd suggest buying important items like a turbo from reputable suppliers.

Your best bet is to try and find one used on here or buy new. A Spec is has great turbo kits at great prices. Pretty complete compared to the crap you get from other places. You could also try and put together your own - if you are willing to do the research. Plenty of threads on here from long ago from people that have done it.

Most of the FD parts on ebay are total crap.

Basically stay away from parts that go in the engine bay, power train, transmission, mostly mechanical parts. The parts for dress up like, body kits, lights, stuff to make your car look good, are usually ok, but they usually dont last long.

Dont forget the saying " you get what you pay for".
You find HID lights for like 20 bucks and life time warranty, its probably not real HID but bulbs that make it look like they are HID.

Everybody's comfort level will be different. I'm not a newbie and I would not contemplate it unless I had a year or two to complete it.

I'm the kind of guy that isn't into having a long term project. From my experience the people with those long term projects never seem to finish them and wind up selling them off at a major loss. Life happens - work, family etc. My goal is to get it done as close to right as possible the first time and enjoy DRIVING the car vs looking at a pile of parts.

I am a big fan of ebay but it doesn't make sense to buy parts on there most of them time.

You can find everything you need on here but you still need to be smart about communicating with the seller before you commit. You can get screwed on here just like anywhere else online.

I bought some ebay wheel spacers for like 2 bucks a piece... they worked great for the 6 months I had them on.

Every once in awhile a rare Japanese part turns up, that is quality and I haven't been able to source easily in other places. You need to really research the part you want, and then compare prices from a variety of sellers.
Certain brands are better then others depending on what your doing, and you need to make sure your buying what you think you are. This is where you need to do your homework. You do get what you pay for, every time! Don't cut corners on your build you'll pay for it in the long run.

EBay is a great place to find parts from reputable manufacturers at discount prices, sometime directly from the manufacturer (HKS and Greddy among other have their FACtory Outlet sales through an eBay store for example). Many other very reputable rotary tuning shops have store on ebay also...including Pettit and Atkins (which incidently by the way sells stuff cheaper throught their eBay store than on their own website!). The bottom line is I have seen/purchased brand new oem and reputable aftermarket parts throught ebay via commercial and personal sellers (for a fraction of the retail I might add). I think the distinction needs to be made between buying reputable suppliers/manufactures parts on ebay and buying parts from cheap suppliers that happen to sell high volume on Ebay (like the super cheap turbos, intercoolers, wastegates, etc...).
