Dome Lights Problem....Good Idea/Bad Idea???
Hello all,
I finally have my 87 in hand, after joining back in September of last year, and i have just lurked mainly since then. I have been doing little things to the 87 this week and i have come to my next little task.
My dome lights seem to be out, but i think its a little more involved than just a blown bulb or fuse.
When checking the fuses, i found that the fuse for the dome lights was blown. I replaced the fuse, and then checked it with a fuse indicator and still got no light to confirm that the fuse/line was operational. The previous owner had told me that there may be some water damage along that fuse block area because it seemed that the windshield was not sealed correctly when replaced, so water may have been running down the A-pillar and straight into the fuse area.
All of the other fuses indicated they were good as my light on my indicator lit up, so im guessing this may be an isolated problem with just this one line.
So here's my "Good idea/ Bad idea"....
My thought is just directly bypass the fuse block for the dome lights and solder in an in-line fuse that you could get from an AZ/O'R.
My thought is that its basically the same thing and just a work around patch. If there is indeed rust/damage to that one particular line in the fuse block, then i would be looking at a more involved repair than what i am initially willing to dive into.
Is my thinking correct in this???
