Does anyone know anything about crank sensors?

The local dealership said my crank sensor is bad. Said it was gonna be 640 to get it replaced. IS this a fair price? Is this something i can do myself? Thanks for any input guys. ALso would this cause the car to run as if the motor was blown?

Just find a used one in the classfieds. $640 is ridiculous. And yes, a bad CAS will cause the engine to run poorly. Ignition timing could be all over the place.

not sure about the prize, i would check my buds at Atkins Rotary, but i believe its way expensive what they are selling you. also check the ignitors they could be at fault and have the same symptoms. even a bad wire can give u those symptoms. hope this helps.

The dealership should be the last place you go looking for parts for these cars unless you're loaded or related to a Gekko...

There are some bargains but you have to know about them. Like the plastic cups that go in the door for the year 1981 to 1985 cars. Still available and dirt cheap. Well, they were 4 years ago.
