My brother and I just bought and 87 rx7 and it has a problem in the rear end. Anytime you shift gears there would be a thud sound in the rear. Had been told it was the differential mount and that it was snapped off the sub-frame. So do we need to replace the whole rear end or just the mount. It is a stock rear end, we would actually like to upgrade.. any suggestions that are economic
THe read end has three mounts, two in the back and one in the front, the front one is just two metal blocks with a rubber part between them, the rubber normally breaks down.
You can just replace it with a solid mount.
The only real upgrade is a TurboII rear end but then you have to change everthing to make it work.
Unless you are installing a turbo or using the car for ALOT of drag racing then you will be fine with the stock NA
