Dashpot sticking on FD Rx7?

Has anyone experienced their dash pot sticking as the car gets up to operating temp on their FD Rx7? I have seemed to narrow it down to this as to why my idle fluctuates when the car is warm. Thanks for the feedback!

If you're sure it's not a throttle cable sticking or out of adjustment, 'advance' search in the 3rd Gen. Section using "dashpot" just in titles and see what you get. It's almost certain you're not the first with an issue.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve been all over that particular thread. And actually my throttle cable was out of adjustment which is now corrected. Car is still fluctuating. When I push on the throttle cable backwards (closing direction), the idle smooths out. That’s whats making me think the dash pot is malfunctions while getting hot.

Personally I’ve never had to mess with mine, but if you’re convinced it needs replacement you could probably source a used one in the Parts For Sale section. If you want to get new, I’d call a guy named Ray Crowe (703) 785-5554 / Crowe.Ray@aol.com . Well known and trusted source for OEM on the forum.

I believe there's a test in the FSM for the dashpot. If I remember right, if it's sticking or binding up and not popping out quickly, it needs to be replaced.

For fluctuating idle
- Rule out a vacuum leak.
- Check your TPS if it's within tolerance
- Clean the ISC
