That was just a little modification I did before doing the TB mod. You see the long vaccum line going to the front smaller dashpot on the front of the TB? Well the left side of that line used to connect to one of the nipples on the TB where I made that little loop, I don't remember which one. Then the loop deal thing, used to be go straight down and connect to where the left side of the long vaccum hose is going. Pretty much I bypassed the TB, and had vaccum running straight to the smaller dashport on the TB. This dashpot is what opens the secondary throttle plates. By doing this, even at idle, the secondary throttle plates are opened. So its like doing a partial throttle body mod, that takes 30 seconds to do. Still the 2nd-ary throttle plates and the shaft that holds them are in the TB, so even though they are open you are still getting turbulence and not as good airflowage as with a true TB mod. Plus all the cold start assist stuff is still on. As far as I know I'm the only person who has tried this before. I just sorta forgot about it, or I would have told other people to try it. I've had the little setup going for 8-9 months before actually doing the TB mod.

Speed Racer......thats interesting what you said about the double throttle diaphram on your 90. What makes it interesting, is that on my 86-87 cars it works just the opposite. There is a spring in the double throttle diaphram that keeps my throttle plates full open except when the engine is cold, and then there is a vacuum on the double throttle diaphram which pulls the throttle plates to the closed position. If I rigged a straight vacuum line to my diaphram, they would be sucked towards the closed position virtually all the time.

Hmm...it was so long ago when I did, over a year(back when I thought I knew ****)I suppose I could have made a dumbass mistake and had it backwards. Off the top of my head I couldn't tell you for sure. Wouldn't that have severely limited my HP? Thats the main reason, I don't see how I could have messed that up. Can somebody else with a Series 5 verify my work somehow? My throttle plates and the dashpot thingy are already removed.

When I adjusted mine, already had my TB off, so I don't know. I would think with a long open wrench you could loosen the nut pretty easily, and once the nut is loosend the dashpot can be spun by finger. How would you adjust this to get flamage? I don't really understand that I guess. Mine is set so the dashpot never contacts the roller, so my throttle plates snap shut immediately after letting of the throttle.

Hi. I was able to adjust the Dashpot. I read that by adjusting the dashpot it will make the car run richer or leaner. I have a Race pipe installed and I am trying to get some sort of flame.
What use it the Dashpot? I heard some people just remove them.
What is the TP?

the dashpot is just a cusion for the throttle plates when you let off the gas. with the dashpot there it slowly closes the plates to make the car smother, instead of the plates slaming closed. to make flames you'd want to loosen it all the way so it's no longer toughing the throttle part that moves. you should be able to see it touching the dashpot.

Thx for the reply.
Why don't I just remove the dashpot?
I noticed a scew or stopper that touched the throttle when i accerlate it move apart from that dashpot scew.. Is that what you are tell me to do? By moving that scew or stopper away from the throttle plate my plates would slam close creating a temporarily backfire?

I uploaded a picture.. It not very exact but you should get the picture.
So you mean I move the scew to the left so it doesn't touch the throttle plate?

Yes, thats how mine is currently set, so the plunger never touches the throttle plate, that way when I let off the throttle, the throttle plates SNAP shut. I don't get a backfire or flamage though. Since I removed my airpump and ACV, I haven't had the backfire that I used to get.

Hey I need some suggestions. Today I removed the dashpot and turned the idle scew one turn right.. But again I see no change in driving now any FLAMES!. I am running on a race pipe with custom exhaust. What else can I do so I can make my car run rich!.. I made a bet with my guy friend..so I just want a little flame.. :-?
So can I have some suggestions? on what I should do next??
I turned the idle or air/fuel scew one full way... what is suggested on how many times i should turn to run rich.. I don't want turn it and have my car running to rich and flooding just a temporarily richness
thx
