did you still have the sub-zero reservoir connected?

The tank full of coolant on the passenger side up by the firewall? If so then yes that was still connected. Thinking that hose could be cracked? What purpose does it serve going into the carb?

that's the one.

it's purpose was to aid starting in freezing temperatures. a decent concept, but dubious efficacy. i think it was supposed to keep the jets from icing up. once i learned that they could be removed with no consequence, i never kept one on any of my FBs - and i lived NYC for years, not to mention, i went to school about 4 hours upstate for two and a half years. if i was going to get ice in the jets, i'm pretty sure it would have happened.

I was thinking that it was caused by the intake gasket leaking, personally.

I had the same little puddles over my intake manifold and that is what fixed it.

that was my first thought, actually. however, i sort of assumed it wasn't there before he removed the carbie.

but, the bottomline is you're right. worn out intake gasket and/or O-rings are valid possibilities, too.

Well your both correct... In that starting the car makes it **** coolant. I have a carb rebuild kit and wanted to get the emissions off. It looked like the coolant was coming from the passenger side of the block and leaking onto the ground. I could t see where the exact leak was, but when I removed the carb I saw the puddle. I'm thinking the puddle is overfilling and just spilling down the side of the block. Got a link to the gaskets and direction to find the O ring? I'm still taking emissions off so I haven't started to pull the carb apart yet, but from the outside I see no o ring

well, it would have been useful if you had mentioned that the engine actively ejects antifreeze when running because i would have saved you the trouble and went right for the O-rings in the first place. so, technically, i was wrong. i only suggested the sub-zero reservoir because it sounded like the puddle appeared ONLY when you removed the carburetor.

replace the intake manifold gasket and O-rings. as for where the O-rings are located, when you take the manifold off you will see it clearly. coolant goes into the intake manifold through a port on each of the rotor housings - directly above each exhaust port (maybe 2-3 inches). when you remove the manifold you will likely see them rotted and mangled.
