What i would do is go to Ace,get some new 8x1 mm, 1-1/2 or 1-1/4 long,or what ever you need, and just replace them.
It does not matter about the head or nut size.
In all my years of turning wrenches i have never come across a setup that uses what you are saying.
Even the FSM onj my 87 RX7 shows bolts going into the flywheel.
That just does not make sense the way you are describing it, but i have been wrong.
Or,my solution would be go to a junk yard, and buy the proper flywheel, and start over.
